Director, Hope Street Family Center
Vickie Kropenske is the director of the Hope Street Family Center, a collaborative program of the University of California, Los Angeles, and California Hospital Medical Center. She founded the Hope Street Family Center as part of a national effort to identify more effective ways to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and school failure. She has over thirty years of experience managing and directing interdisciplinary demonstration, research, and training projects concerned with vulnerable children and families.
She received her BA in Sociology from Hunter College, her BS in Nursing from Cornell University, and her MSN in Community Health Nursing from California State University, Los Angeles.
