Associate Professor, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Clinical Pediatrics
Dr. Shirley Russ is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is an affiliate member of Chapter 2 of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Champion on EHDI and faculty member of Academic Primary Care Pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Her main interests are the epidemiology of childhood hearing loss, infant hearing screening, the role of culture and social gradients in child development and the early detection of developmental challenges in young children. In 1991, Dr. Russ was awarded a National Health Research Scholarship and was responsible for the implementation and evaluation of the Statewide Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program. In 1998 she was a co-recipient of the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation’s Research into Practice award. In 1994, she served as the Medical Director of Children’s HEALTH, a school-linked program based at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Russ completed her medical degree at Liverpool University, England, and completed postgraduate training in pediatrics in Bristol and London, England and then in Sydney and Canberra, Australia. She completed a Fellowship in Community Pediatrics at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia in 1990.
