A Comprehensive Approach

Our work focuses on four areas: Systems Innovation and Improvement, Research and Evaluation, Training and Model Programs, and Policy. In combination, these areas offer strategic, integrated techniques for transforming care and improving the long-term health of children and families.

SYSTEMS INNOVATION & IMPROVEMENT

We work with local, state, and national partners to develop responsive systems of care. To optimize health outcomes, we harness creative ideas and apply improvement methods that transcend current practice. Putting knowledge into action, we bridge the gap between what we know and what we do.

RESEARCH & EVALUATION

We undertake cross-disciplinary clinical, population, epidemiologic, and policy research. We study how both risk and protective factors influence children’s outcomes, and apply the latest knowledge to programs, community systems, and state and national policy.

TRAINING & MODEL PROGRAMS

We provide interdisciplinary training to health practitioners, public health professionals, and students. We prepare them to reshape health services and policies in order to improve children’s long-term development. Our unique approaches are producing the next generation of health leaders.

POLICY

We provide analysis that signals key areas for reforming health policy and practice. Our life course perspectives are crucial to creating policies that optimize early childhood outcomes and manage chronic disease. We collaborate with policymakers in California, Washington, D.C., the UK, Australia, and Canada.
