Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA National Children's Study, Study Location Principle Investigator
Dr. Angela Chen is the Medical Director at the UCLA OB-GYN Clinic at the West Medical Building, Fellowship Director for the Division of Family Planning at UCLA, and maintains a clinical practice at UCLA. She is an obstetrician/gynecologist with special interest in public health and family planning and creating new programs, clinical services, research collaborations, and teaching opportunities for students, residents, and fellows.
In 2004, Dr. Chen was awarded a seed grant to build a Ryan Residency Training Program in contraception and family planning for UCLA OB/GYN residents and medical students, which developed into a new clinical Family Planning service. Dr Chen founded the Building a Ryan Program workshop, which inspires new graduates in the field of family planning to seek academic careers and to build their own training programs in family planning. Since she began teaching the workshop, 52 new programs have been started at leading academic OB/GYN programs throughout the country. Dr Chen also created the tissues donation program through the Translation Pathology Core Lab, providing a safe and de-identified method of distributing freshly procured tissues from willing donors allowing investigators to study tissue processes they could not previously.
