Courtney Young Receives Prestigious Awards

Courtney Young was honored with four prestigious awards from the Molecular Biology Institute, the College of Letters and Science and the Graduate Division for academic excellence:

  • Charles E. And Sue K. Young Graduate Student Award, 2017 (L and S)
  • UCLA Molecular Biology Interdepartmental Program Dissertation Year Award, 2017
  • UCLA Jules Brenner Award, 2017
  • Dissertation Year Fellowship for 2017-18


Young, is a promising pre-doctoral fellow in Dr. Melissa Spencer’s laboratory, who is co- mentored by Dr. April Pyle. Her research aims to develop a CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing therapy for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
